Barnes & Noble and BN.com, their online site, approached 5WPR with the desire to take its signature experience as the world largest bookseller— and extend it into a rich online experience.
5W Public Relations partnered with the BN.com team to launch publicity for Barnes & Noble Studio, a new online multimedia destination dedicated to the world of readers, writers and books. The goal was to essentially make Barnes & Noble Studio the “Food Network of books,” while creating new ways for book buyers and book lovers to browse online; a site intended to encourage online visitors to spend time on BN.com the same way they would browse through a bricks and mortar bookstore – with a combination of professional produced and user-generated content on varied aspects of literature.
5WPR created a vast news bureau, aggressively pitching the Barnes & Noble Studio offerings targeted towards the audience of a given author or title being featured. In the first three months following the Barnes & Noble Studio launch, 5W Public Relations garnered over 50 million media impressions – and increased online traffic exponentially.
