1. Stanford GSB: 18× the Median on AI Coursework. ~36 AI-integrated courses vs. the median of 2.

2. 25 of 60 Schools Require Zero AI. 42% of schools offer AI as elective-only.

3. Wharton Is the Only M7 with a Named AI MBA Major. AI for Business, Fall 2025. STEM-certified.

4. HBS Made AI Required Before Any M7 Peer. "Data Science and AI for Leaders" is mandatory.

5. Kellogg Built a Standalone AI Degree, the Only M7 to Do So. The MBAi is an 18-month joint program with McCormick Engineering, the only dedicated AI degree among the M7 schools rather than an elective or concentration.

6. Chicago Booth Partnered with OpenAI Before Any Other M7. The partnership anchors Chicago Booth's D3 (Corporate AI Partnerships) score of 92, the third-highest in the index behind MIT Sloan and Stanford GSB, and it is the primary driver of Chicago Booth's rise to the sixth spot in the overall composite.

7. AI Strategy Outnumbers AI Implementation 9.5 to 1. Most required and elective AI coursework across the 60 schools teaches AI strategy, frameworks, and case discussion rather than hands-on implementation such as prompt engineering, model evaluation, or building an AI workflow. Only the three schools leading D1 (AI Curriculum Integration), Stanford GSB (98), Wharton (96), and Kellogg (94), require students to build or deploy an AI system as part of coursework rather than analyze one from the outside.

8. AI Partnerships Are Concentrated Among 8 Schools. The eight highest D3 (Corporate AI Partnerships) scores in the index belong to MIT Sloan (96), Stanford GSB (95), Chicago Booth (92), Wharton (90), Harvard Business School (88), Tsinghua SEM (88), Kellogg (84), and Columbia Business School, tied with London Business School at 82. Every other school in the 60-school universe scores at or below 80 on this dimension, meaning direct partnerships with frontier AI labs and hyperscalers remain concentrated among a small group of Tier I and top Tier II programs.

9. Israel's Per-Capita AI Founder Yield Rivals the M7. TAU Coller (#25, D2: 78), Technion (#34, D2: 76), Reichman (#46, D2: 66). Three schools with a combined population base a fraction of the US produce AI-founder alumni at rates that, per capita, rival the M7.

10. Tsinghua SEM Is Structurally Depressed by English-Language Bias. Tsinghua's D1 through D5 average is 86.4. Its D6 (Citation Share) score is 54, a 32-point gap explained almost entirely by the English-language dominance of the five AI engines measured. Under a Chinese-engine normalization, Tsinghua would rank fourth or fifth instead of eighth.

11. European Schools Lead on Research, Lag on Curriculum. ETH Zurich MBA scores 78 on D5 (AI Research Output) but only 54 on D1 (AI Curriculum Integration), a 24-point gap. Cambridge Judge shows the same pattern (D5: 78, D1: 64), and Oxford Saïd is close behind (D5: 74, D1: 66). All three publish AI research at a level that would place them in Tier I on that dimension alone, but none has translated that research into required coursework at the rate of the US Tier I schools.

12. Zero Schools Teach GEO.

Zero schools in 60 include Generative Engine Optimization, LLM optimization, AI visibility strategy, or Citation Share measurement. The first school to build a required GEO module will own the category in business education.

What This Index Does Not Measure

A ranking is defined as much by what it excludes as by what it measures. Below is what this composite deliberately does not score, stated directly rather than left for the reader to infer.

Undergraduate or general MBA teaching quality. Class sizes, professor ratings, and general program satisfaction are not scored. This index measures AI readiness specifically, not overall program quality.

Admissions selectivity or applicant yield. Acceptance rates and average GMAT or GRE scores play no role in any of the six dimensions.

Overall business school prestige or rankings history. Financial Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, and U.S. News composites measure a different variable, general reputation across every discipline a business school teaches. This index measures one variable, AI readiness, across six explicitly stated dimensions.

Tuition, cost, or return on investment. Program price and post-MBA salary outcomes are not part of any dimension in this composite.

Research output outside AI. Finance, marketing, operations, and strategy research volumes are not scored under D5. D5 measures AI-specific research output only.

A reader who wants to measure these variables should consult rankings built for them. This benchmark is a complement to those rankings, not a substitute.

Tier I Snapshots

The seven schools in Tier I each lead the index on a different dimension rather than winning uniformly across all six, and the specific facts behind each school's placement are documented in the findings above.

Stanford GSB (Composite 94.5) tops the index outright, leading D1 (98), D2 (96), and D6 (96). Its AI coursework volume, approximately 36 AI-integrated courses against a median of 2 across the 60-school universe, is the single largest gap in the index.

MIT Sloan (Composite 92.0) leads D3 (Corporate AI Partnerships, 96), D4 (Executive AI Education, 95), and D5 (AI Research Output, 95). MIT Sloan's institutional partnerships and executive-education scale outweigh a comparatively lower D1 score of 80.

Wharton (Composite 90.5) is the only M7 school with a named, STEM-certified AI MBA major, AI for Business, launched Fall 2025. That program anchors Wharton's D1 score of 96, the second-highest in the index behind Stanford GSB.

Harvard Business School (Composite 89.0) made AI coursework mandatory, through "Data Science and AI for Leaders," before any other M7 peer, driving HBS to the second-highest D4 (Executive AI Education) score in the index at 92.

Kellogg (Composite 86.5) built the MBAi, an 18-month joint degree with McCormick Engineering, the only standalone AI degree among the M7 schools. Kellogg's D1 score of 94 is the third-highest in the index.

Chicago Booth (Composite 85.0) partnered with OpenAI before any other M7 school, driving a D3 score of 92, third-highest in the index behind MIT Sloan and Stanford GSB.

Columbia Business School (Composite 82.5) closes out Tier I with the most balanced dimension profile of the seven, scoring between 82 and 84 on five of six dimensions rather than leading on any single one.

Methodology and Sensitivity Checks

The composite score for each school is the unweighted mean of six dimension scores (D1 through D6), each normalized to a 0 to 100 scale. Ties in the composite are broken by D6 (AI Citation Share). Composite scores carry an approximate plus or minus 2.5 point uncertainty band at the 95% confidence level, so rank differences smaller than 5 composite points may not be statistically distinguishable, and tier placement is more reliable than exact position within a tier.

D6 (AI Citation Share) is modeled from 3,000 prompt-engine runs distributed across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, the same five-engine protocol used for D6 in the 5W AI Higher Education Index. Every other dimension draws on published course catalogs, institutional and hyperscaler partnership announcements, and executive-education program data specific to each school.

Reweighting the six dimensions changes the rankings in ways that isolate what each school's Tier I placement actually depends on. Doubling D1 (AI Curriculum Integration) moves Wharton (91.3) ahead of MIT Sloan (90.3) into second place, since MIT Sloan's comparatively low D1 score of 80 is now weighted twice as heavily. Doubling D3 (Corporate AI Partnerships) instead leaves the top four unchanged but widens MIT Sloan's gap over Wharton, since MIT Sloan's D3 score of 96 is the highest in the index.

Removing D6 (AI Citation Share) entirely, to check how much the English-language bias in the five AI engines affects the two Chinese schools in the index, moves Tsinghua SEM from 8th to a tie for 5th (86.4, level with Kellogg) and moves Peking Guanghua from 18th to a tie for 10th (78.8, level with INSEAD). Both moves are consistent with finding 10 above: Tsinghua SEM's D1 through D5 average of 86.4 already sits inside Tier I range, and only its D6 score of 54 pulls the composite down to Tier II.
