A recipe placement is an earned media tactic where a brand's product is featured as an ingredient in a recipe published by a media outlet, food blogger, cookbook author, or influencer. It is one of the most effective integration strategies in food PR because it embeds the product into a reader's shopping list.

How It Works

The PR team develops or commissions recipes using the client's product, then pitches them to food editors, recipe sites, and influencers. Alternatively, the team sends product to recipe creators and lets them develop their own recipes — which often produces more authentic, better-performing content.

Placement Targets

NYT Cooking, Bon Appétit recipes, Epicurious, AllRecipes, Food Network, Taste of Home, and influential food bloggers with high search traffic. Recipe content has exceptionally long shelf life — a well-ranked recipe page generates traffic and product mentions for years.

SEO and AI Value

Recipe pages are among the most-searched content categories on Google. They use HowTo schema and Recipe schema, making them highly structured for both search and AI retrieval. When someone asks ChatGPT "recipe with [ingredient]" the AI pulls from the same recipe corpus. A product embedded in multiple authoritative recipe pages becomes part of the AI's ingredient vocabulary.
