5W AI Communications today published the Israeli Tech in Virginia report — the fourth in the firm's Israeli Tech State Report Series documenting the economic footprint of Israeli-founded technology companies across the United States.
Key Findings
Drawing on the 2025 Virginia-Israel Economic Impact Report (USIBA), Virginia Israel Advisory Board data, and VEDP records:
119 Israeli-founded companies operate in Virginia, generating $2.3 billion in gross economic output and supporting 7,847 total jobs in 2024. Average employee earnings across the cohort: $77,408. Chesterfield County leads all Virginia counties with 2,351 jobs tied to Israeli-founded companies.
The Anchor Companies
Elbit Systems of America manufactures night vision devices in Roanoke County — a facility that has operated continuously since 1959. In November 2025, Elbit announced a $30 million expansion creating 288 new jobs and bringing the site's workforce to over 1,000.
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) North America operates its US headquarters from Herndon in Fairfax County, directing $800 million in annual US business. In 2024, IAI launched the IAI Catalyst aerospace accelerator in Herndon.
Sabra Dipping Company — a Strauss Group/PepsiCo joint venture — runs the world's largest hummus manufacturing facility in Chesterfield County with 500+ employees.
Why Virginia
Fairfax County hosts 38 of the world's top 100 defense companies. The Pentagon, CIA, and NSA are within 30 miles of the Dulles Technology Corridor. The Virginia Israel Advisory Board has operated as a state agency since 1996. No other state in America offers Israeli defense-tech, cybersecurity, and intelligence companies the same proximity to their federal procurement customers.
Virginia's per-company economic output ($19.3M per company) is the highest of any state in the 5W series — reflecting the capital-intensive nature of defense and aerospace operations.
The 5W Israeli Tech State Report Series
The Virginia report joins three previously published studies:
Israeli Tech in Florida — $7.3B output, 429 companies, 26,510 jobs
Israeli Tech in Texas — $3.2B invested, 4,200+ jobs, $4B in 2024 trade
Israeli Tech in Georgia — $5.4B cumulative trade, 33-year institutional partnership
Combined, the four-state series documents more than $18 billion in Israeli-founded company economic activity across Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia.
