5WPR Launches Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index

5WPR Launches Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index
Share:

5WPR has published the Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index 2026, measuring how often major and countertop appliance brands are named across 1,176 answers generated by ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. KitchenAid led the combined study at 38.6% appearance, with GE leading major appliances and Breville Group Ltd leading countertop appliances in their own segment reports.

What Did the Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index Measure?

The research team ran 98 consumer-intent prompts, three trials per prompt per engine, producing 1,176 analyzed answers. The prompts covered refrigerators, ranges, cooktops, dishwashers, and built-in microwaves on the major appliance side, and stand mixers, blenders, coffee makers, espresso machines, air fryers, and multi-cookers on the countertop side. Each prompt was run through the same four systems, in the same order, with no account memory carried between queries.

The full combined findings are published at the Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index 2026 hub, with segment-level detail broken out in the Major Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index and the Small Countertop Appliances AI Visibility Index.

Which Brands Led Each Segment?

In the combined study, KitchenAid led at 38.6% appearance, though its measured lead overlaps statistically with GE, Bosch, Whirlpool, and Breville Group Ltd, meaning the sample does not establish a clear single winner among that group. Split by segment, the picture sharpens. GE led major appliances outright at 61.6% appearance across 552 answers, ahead of Whirlpool, LG, Bosch, and Samsung. Breville Group Ltd led countertop appliances at 54.6% across 624 answers, with real statistical separation from second-place Cuisinart at 44.4%.

Did Celebrity-Backed Brands Break Through?

The study included a specific test built into the methodology: three celebrity and influencer-backed brands, Beautiful by Drew Barrymore, Our Place, and Haden, were measured against the category's established players using the same prompt set. None led the category. Beautiful by Drew Barrymore appeared in 5.4% of countertop-segment answers, Haden in 1.8%, and Our Place in zero of 624 measured answers, across all four engines tested, with no exceptions.

Who Gets Cited When Brands Get Named?

The study also measured which websites AI systems point to as supporting evidence, separate from which brands get named. Citation activity concentrates heavily on third-party publishers rather than brand-owned sites. ConsumerReports.org was the most-cited source across both segments, appearing in roughly half of all answers with retrieval evidence. Several of the most frequently named brands, including GE and Bosch, had a 0% owned-domain citation rate despite each appearing in roughly a third of all answers in their segment.

Why It Matters for the Category

"The real finding isn't who's in first place," said Ronn Torossian, Founder and Chairman of 5WPR. "It's that a brand can be named constantly by these systems and still not control a single piece of the evidence they're citing. That gap, between appearing often and being cited often, is where the category's next competitive advantage actually sits. The celebrity-brand result reinforces the same point from a different angle. A recognizable name didn't buy any of these three brands a shortcut into the evidence base these systems are actually pulling from."

The Kitchen Appliances AI Visibility Index is the newest entry in 5WPR's ongoing AI Visibility Index series, which measures how AI systems represent brands across dozens of consumer categories. Brands working in the category can review the full methodology and brand-by-brand rankings in the published reports, and reach 5WPR's Housewares: Kitchen & Home Appliances practice with questions about what the findings mean for their own visibility.
